Residents encouraged to learn about healthy, seasonal eating through Extension programs
TAVARES — The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County is hosting programs at locations throughout the county focusing on healthy eating during the month of November:
Eating with Diabetes: During November, National Diabetes Month, learn dietary approaches for managing Type 2 diabetes and understand how certain food can affect health. Register online at https://fcslake.eventbrite.com for the following free class:
o Nov. 27 from 2 - 3:30 p.m. at the Umatilla Library, 412 Hatfield Drive, Umatilla.
Those with food allergies should be aware that food items prepared or distributed as part of UF/IFAS Extension events may contain milk, egg, gluten, wheat, soybean, peanuts, tree nuts, fish and shellfish; and could be prepared in a facility that may be exposed to any of these ingredients.
