Waste Management Inc. provides Recycling and Garbage service in the City of Umatilla.
UPDATE FOR CURBSIDE COLLECTION SERVICES
Waste Management, in partnership with City of Umatilla, will begin once a week curbside collection for garbage, recycling and yard waste on DECEMBER 3, 2013. Curbside collection will occur every TUESDAY.
The City of Umatilla is leading the way to a greener future. Residents have the option to sign up for the Recyclebank rewards program, which will save money on things you buy every day. Please ensure only the following items are disposed of in your recycling cart:
· Paper - Newspapers, junk mail, magazines, telephone books, catalogues, office paper and brown paper bags.
· Plastic - Bleach, detergent, shampoo bottles and bottles with necks #1-7 (number is located on the base of a container) PLEASE RINSE.
· Metal - Aluminum and aerosol cans, pie pans and steel food containers. PLEASE RINSE.
· Cardboard - Food boxes, milk and juice containers and cardboard boxes. PLEASE FLATTEN CARDBOARD BOXES AND LIMIT SIZE TO 2 FEET BY 2 FEET.
Glass - Green, clear and brown bottles and jars. PLEASE RINSE
Please call City Hall at (352)669-3125 to schedule pick up of discarded appliances, furniture or e-waste (Televisions, VCRs, computers, computer monitors, copiers, fax machines, microwaves, stereos, CD players).
Tires, lawn mowers, gas powered engines, vehicle batteries (household batteries go with recycling), auto parts, heavy steel, live ammunition, propane tanks, building materials, and hazardous materials will not be picked up. Garbage customers are responsible for proper disposal of these types of materials. Lake County has established a program for electronic waste and charges a fee for disposal. Residential Garbage rate is $23.16 monthly.
